96.07 percentile in JEE Mains is a good score but it's hard to get computer Science in top NITs. You might get it in smaller NITs. You can also try for other branches like ECE, etc.

Seat availability, depending on your home state quota, branch preference, and whether it is the first or second round of counseling, will dictate your home state minority SC/General.

With a JEE rank of 73,000 you can expect to get admission in newer NITs, such as NIT Mizoram, NIT Meghlalaya, NIT Nagaland, or NIT Sikkim, mostly under Home State or reserved category quota.  The branches you may expect are Civil, Chemical, Metallurgical, or the lower demand core branches.  Your chances of admission will improve if you come under OBC, SC, ST or female quota.

With the AIR 278990 in JEE Mains you cannot get NIT if you don't have any additional reservation.
