Normally speaking electrical engineering is better than metallurgical branch. But then B.Tech in an IIT has much more snob value than NIT. This causes majority of IIT graduates to get placed irrespective of branch. However I would like to advise you that ignore this and select the branch that fascinates you and not on the basis of ranking of the institution. Best wishes to you.

The toughest exam is JEE Advanced. BITSAT is at par with JEE Mains or below. In BITSAT, accuracy matters along with the command on languages.
