There are more than 450 Environmental Science colleges in India, where students can choose to pursue an education at various course levels. There are 197 government institutes that offer Environmental Science courses and 188 private colleges. Students can get admission to these colleges on a merit basis or through entrance exams like CUET, CUET PG, and UGC NET.

YCMOU offers a PhD program in environmental science. Admission is based on the PhD entrance test and a interview. Applicant must hold  a master degree in a relevant field with at least 55% marks.The PET comprises two online paper :The first assesses general aptitude and research skill, while the second focus on subject specific knowledge. Applicant with valid UGC- NET, UGC-CSIR NET, SLET, GATE or hold an M. Phil. are exempt from the PET.The PET is typically conducted in October.

Yes, you can definitely try the UGC NET in Environmental Science if you hold a Master's degree in Botany. The UGC NET eligibility criteria also include that such applicants holding their Master's degrees in subjects allied to Environmental Science are acceptable too. Botany falls in that category as an allied subject. Thus, you can take up Environmental Science as your UGC NET subject. 

Except this, ensure you meet all other eligibility criteria

1. Marks: 55% aggregate at Master's degree level; for reserved categories it is 50%.

2. Age

    JRF

30 years, however, there will be relaxation in age for SC/ST and other backward cas

Natubhai V. Patel college of pure and applied Science offers a 3 years B.Sc in environmental Science course at the UG level. The total tution fee of this course is INR 186000 for the entire duration of the course . Apart from the tution fee, students are required to pay the hostel  fee of INR 42000.
