Exam Eligibility

The physical standards are extremely important for the CDS exam. You may be disqualified even if you are recommended by the SSB if you do not meet the physical fitness requirements. The following are the physical criteria for the CDS exam:
1. The minimum required height is around 157.5 cm for IMA through CDS.
2. It is 157 cm for the Navy and 162.5 cm for the Air Force.
3. For female candidates, the minimum required height is 152 cm.
4. The body mass index (BMI) must be below 25 for CDS.
5. Also, there is a required waist-to-hip ratio that should be below 0.9 for males and 0.8 for females.
6. The waist circumference must be less than 80 cm for females and 90 cm for males.
7. There is a prescribed weight criteria as per height, which you can SEE in the official notification of the UPSC CDS.

For Finance or Accounts: A Bachelor of Commerce Degree from a recognised University with min 60 percent mark in the degree examination for General and OBC category students and at least 55 percent marks for Schedule Caste or Schedule Tribe category students or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by Central Government with the prescribed benchmark. For General: Graduation in any discipline with min 60 percent mark for General and OBC and min 55 percent mark for the Schedule Caste or Schedule Tribe category from a recognised university. For Legal: Students must possess a Legum Baccalaureus or Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognised University with min 60 percent mark in the degree examination for open and OBC category students and min 55 percent mark for Schedule Caste or Schedule Tribe students or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government with the prescribed benchmark. For Insurance: Graduation in any discipline with min 60 percent mark in the degree examination for open and OBC students and min 55 percent mark for Schedule Caste or Schedule Tribe students or any equivalent qualification-recognised university. Students should hold a graduation or post-graduation degree with a minimum of 60 percent aggregate marks. Students should be a minimum of 21 and a maximum of 30 years of age to apply for the exam. Eligibility Criteria for Scientist/Engineer 'SC' Post:
1- For Electronics: BE/B.Tech or equivalent in Electronics Engineering in first division with an aggregate min of 65% marks or CGPA 6.84 on a scale of 10.
2- For Mechanical: BE/B.Tech or equivalent in Electronics Engineering in First Class with an aggregate min of 65% marks or CGPA 6.84 on a scale of 10.
3- For Computer Science: BE/B.Tech or equivalent in Computer Science Engineering in First Class with an aggregate min of 65 percent marks or CGPA 6.84 on a scale of 10.
4- For Civil: BE/B.Tech or equivalent in Civil Engineering in First Class with an aggregate min of 65 percent marks or CGPA of 6.84 on a scale of 10.
5- For Electrical: BE/B.Tech or equivalent in Electrical Engineering in First Class with an aggregate min of 65 percent marks or CGPA 6.84 on a scale of 10.
6- For Refrigeration & AC: B.Tech or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with Air Conditioning & Refrigeration or allied subjects as electives or as a core subject in any of the semesters, in First Class with an aggregate min of 65% marks or CGPA 6.84 on a scale of 10.
7- For Architecture: Bachelor's degree in Architecture in First Class with an aggregate min of 65 percent or CGPA 6.84 on a scale of 10 and registration with the Council of Architecture. Eligibility criteria for Junior Research Fellow:
1- For Position No. 1 to 6: M.E. , M.Tech. , or M.Sc. Or an equivalent postgraduate degree in first class with an aggregate minimum of 60% or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10-point scale, with a pre-eligibility ISRO qualification of B.E. , B.Tech. , or B.Sc. (engineering. ). Or an equivalent qualification with an aggregate minimum of 65% or CGPA/CGPI grading of 6.84 on a 10-point scale. Only candidates who have passed the NET or equivalent examinations are eligible to apply.
2- For Position No. 7 to 10: M.Sc. Or an equivalent degree in first class with an aggregate minimum of 65% average of all semesters or 6.5 CGPA/CPI grading on a 10-point scale. Only candidates who have passed the NET or equivalent examinations are eligible to apply. Age Limit: The maximum ISRO age limit is 28 years as of February 2, 2023, but it is relaxable for up to 5 years in the case of SC/ST candidates and 3 years in the case of OBC candidates.
