Family's main concern is your security in terms of finance. And you should do that but during your college days you can join a theater so that you can make path to your dream. If everything will go right. Then, you could choose acting as a career else you can pursue your job after graduation.

Jadavpur University offers BA-Extra Departmental (BA-ED) falling under Faculty council of Arts and Film studies.

For post-graduation Diploma, you should have Bachelor's degree in any stream. You can join BJMC course, or Bachelor in Acting course or Join NSD.

As per the prospectus of year 2019-2020 of M.G.R. Government Film and Television Institute, Chennai. The institute offers the following bachelor of Visual arts programs as under.
1. Cinematography
2. Digital Intermediate,
3. Audiography,
4. Direction & Screenplay writing,
5. Film editing
6. Animation and visual effects.
The engineering diploma in EEE and ECE are eligible for first three courses, while last three courses are required class 12th passed in any stream.
Hence, Diploma in film technology (Animation and Visual effects) is not here.

The only eligibility is a graduate degree from any recognized board or university or college whether it is regular or distance doesn't affect your eligibility.
