You may pursue MA in film studies but post graduation in filmmaking is not very important. Filmmaking is a practical field and you will learn better while on the job. I would suggest you to rather apply for internships in various production houses to give your career a kick-start.

No, you don't have to appear for SNUSAT in order to take admission in MFA in film and Television course in Shiv Nadar University. You can apply online for the course with necessary details and upon screening of these applications, you will be called upon for a personal interview if found suitable. Your performance in the interview will determine your admission.

Having a degree will not ensure any job in the film industry. The degree will familiarize you with the film making process and will also serve as an evidence that you have knowledge about the field. But this field has cut throat competition and you have to make you own space with your hard work and dedication. It is not easy to make a career in the film industry and you really have to put your heart and soul to this career to be successful.

Now a days job in engineering is really less jobs as if a student is unable to get good college then it is really difficult for them to get job in future. As you said your son is interested in story writing and film making and if you see he would really do better in this field then there are many course for film making such as B.Sc. In VFX, B.Sc. In Animation, B.Sc. In Film Making and many more. And here also lot of scope which does not need any backup it just need a talent. Famous college who provide this course are
