There is generally the following curriculum for a genetics course:
1.Mendelian genetics; molecular biology (DNA, RNA, proteins); Cell biology (cell cycle, mitosis, meiosis); population genetics 2.In Advanced Genetics: Molecular genetics (gene structure, regulation); Genetic engineering (DNA technology, CRISPR); Genomics - gene sequencing, bioinformatics; and Epigenetics (gene expression regulation) 3.
Practical Work:
Genetic crosses, PCR, gel electrophoresis Bioinformatics for genetic data analysis Theoretical and practical curriculum.

Yes, though Distance colleges offering Genetics courses are very limited in India. However, Madurai Kamaraj University in Madurai offers Diploma in Human Genetic Disorders. It is a PG Diploma course with 1-year duration and the course fee is INR 12,000.

The recruitments in Genetics are both from the private and public sector. However, the public sector acts as the dominant one. One can get jobs in various national parks, wildlife sanctuaries and also work as an animal breeder. Along with that, can also apply in various educational institutions as an assistant professor or may even work on a project in government recognised labs.
