Don't go for private universities. You can apply for Government Universities, which have good scope and provide good knowledge base to you.

Hi Akash,
B.Tech in genetic engineering is a good way to go as not much if students option it. Since, it has a lot to do with DNA and other medical technologies so an aspirant must have biology as his/her subject in 12th. Chemistry and mathematics are other subjects that one needs to have in 12th and all with at least 60% marks overall. Nalanda School of Management and Aryabhatta Knowledge University are known to be good institutes for the same. Entrance exams JEE Mains, SRM EEE, BITSAT, etc. are there which allow you to get yourself into counselling. Course fee ranges from 3 lacs to 12 lacs (sub. to the college). Once you complete this

Selection of the graduate courses ( BE / B.Tech ) is based on merit i.e the marks secured in the final exams of 10+2 and through entrance exams. Entrance to the IIT's is through JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) and for other institutions through their own separate entrance exams and other state level and national level exams. Apart from the IIT's, some other famous institutes also recognize JEE scores for selection.
Currently, students do not have much choice when it comes to genetic engineering colleges. Please use the link provided below for a list of colleges which offer genetic engineering courses in India.
