The prelims test will consist of three two papers i.e. General Studies & Engineering Aptitude and Specific Discipline Paper. The prelims exam will be objective type (multiple choice questions). The exam will be held in offline mode (pen-paper based.The UPSC IES Syllabus is a relatively easier one than the IAS Syllabus. From the scope of exam pattern to syllabus for both exams, there is a huge difference.

The last RRB NTPC exam was moderate in terms of difficulty level. The General Awareness section was moderate, while General Intelligence and Reasoning sections were easy. The overall difficulty level of the Mathematics section was easy to moderate. RRB NTPC exam is held for 90 minutes for general candidates while 120 minutes is given for PwBD candidates. The standard of RRB NTPC syllabus has been basically based on Class 10, 12, and graduation levels.

 RRB NTPC eligibility is different for graduate and undergraduate posts. RRB NTPC educational qualification for graduate-level posts is graduation from a recognised university. The educational qualification for undergraduate-level posts is Class 12 pass. For undergraduate posts, the RRB NTPC age limit is 18 to 30 years, whereas the age limit for graduate-level posts is 18 to 33 years. Relaxation in the upper age limit is given to candidates belonging to reserved categories. After the exam is over, the NDA cutoff is made public. The deadlines for the written test and final selection are announced separately. The exam has sectional cutoff scores as well. Candidates must receive a minimum of 25% in each NDA exam subject. Candidates are chosen for the SSB Interview based on their written exam cutoff scores. The written exam and SSB interview are used to determine the final cutoff.

The NDA exam, which consists of both a written exam and an SSB interview, is administered twice a year. The two sections of the NDA written exam are the General Ability Test (GAT) and Mathematics. The exam consists of 270 questions altogether, with both exams including objective-style questions. In particular, there are 150 questions on the GAT and 120 questions on the mathematics paper. 900 marks are allotted for the NDA exam. The NDA exam is often quite demanding.
