IES 2024 Syllabus

IES 2024 syllabus was mentioned in the official IES 2024 notification. The Commission mentioned the topics for all the streams and stages in detail. The candidates should see and prepare all the topics mentioned in the official syllabus. The Commission does not mention the weightage of topics of prelims or mains exam. The candidates should prepare all the topics mentioned in the syllabus. The official UPSC ESE (IES) 2024 syllabus was mentioned for each of the engineering streams separately.

Q:   Does UPSC have different syllabus for IES from IES prelims and main exams?

A:

Yes, the UPSC mentions the IES syllabus separately for the IES prelims and main exam. The syllabus for the IES exam is divided into two written exams: prelims and mains. The prelims exam consists of two papers - Paper 1 with questions on General Studies & Engineering Aptitude common for all candidates, and Paper 2 with questions based on the candidate's engineering stream. On the other hand, the Mains exam includes two descriptive papers based on the engineering stream.

The syllabus for both prelims and Mains exams covers various topics specific to each engineering discipline, such as Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics & Telecommunication

Q:   Dos the IES syllabus change every year?

A:

The IES syllabus does not change every year. While minor modifications may occur, the overall syllabus remains consistent. The syllabus for the IES exam is typically stable, with no major alterations from year to year. Candidates can rely on the established syllabus to prepare effectively for the exam.

The UPSC equires to take approval of the Ministry of Personnel before changing the IES syllabus.

Q:   Which are the subjects in UPSC IES exam?

A:

The Commission conduct the exam to recruit candidates for the position of IES. The candidates can see below the four Engineering streams for which the exam was notified. The names of the services are given below:
•    Civil Engineering
•    Mechanical Engineering
•    Electrical Engineering
•    Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering

IES Exam Pattern 2024

The Union Public Service Commission mentioned the UPSC ESE(IES) 2024 exam pattern in the official syllabus. The Commission does not change the IES 2024 exam pattern. UPSC ESE (IES) 2024 exam will be a three-stage exam. The three stages are

  • IES Prelims Exam

  • IES Main Exam (Interview)

The candidates can see here the detail about the UPSC ESE (IES) 2024 Exam Pattern in detail.

IES 2024 Question Paper

The IES 2024 prelims exam will be conducted offline only. The Commission will release the IES 2024 question paper soon. The Commission will also open an objection window for the candidates. The UPSC will allow the candidates to send representation against the incorrect questions/answers. The candidates will be required to send objections with valid proof for each of representation. Previous year question papers are very important for the candidates because they provide a clear idea about the demand of the exam. UPSC ESE (IES) question papers will provide an idea about the important topics.

IES 2024 Answer Key

The UPSC releases the IES Answer Key after the IES result. The IES answer key is the only authentic source to know the answers to the questions asked in the IES Prelims exam. The IES prelims exam is a new stage added in the Engineering Services exam. The candidates should download the IES prelims answer key of the previous and with the previous year's question paper and their answer key, the candidates can understand the important topics and areas from where the questions were asked. In addition to, that the official answers can help them to prepare the topic in a better way.
