UPSC ESE (IES) 2022 prelims results has been released online on March 30. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the roll numbers of the qualified candidates. The qualified candidates can appear in the main exam which is scheduled to be conducted on June 26. The candidates can check their results online to know their status. UPSC ESE (IES) prelims 2022 were conducted on February 20 across the nation in offline mode. UPSC issues the admit card three weeks before the exam date. It means that the UPSC IES 2022 main admit card will be issued on June 5. UPSC released the ESE (IES) 2022 notification on September 22 for 247 vacancies.
UPSC released the ESE(IES) cutoff 2021 online for the candidates. UPSC also released the IES prelims 2021 answer keys for the candidates.The Indian Engineering Service (IES) cutoff and reserve list details were released for all the engineering streams and phases of the exam separately. UPSC ESE result 2021 (final) has been released by the Commission on March 28. The candidates can check and download their results here from the official result pdf. 194 candidates were selected in the final result released online. There were 225 vacancies in the exam against which 194 candidates were selected and the candidature of 29 candidates was kept provisional because of the verification of original documents by UPSC.
What is IES Exam?
UPSC conducts the IES exam every year to recruit candidates for various specialised positions in the Union Government departments. The IES is a Central Civil Service and the candidates can be posted anywhere across the nation. The exam is conducted to recruit candidates for engineering positions for the various department working under the Government of India. The Engineering Services Examination is conducted for four branches of engineering namely:
- Civil Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
In the past, they had conducted this exam under the name of the Indian Engineering Services (IES) exam. The IES exam is considered one of the toughest examinations in the country. Nearly, two lakh candidates appear for the examination every year. Engineering Services Exam or IES exam recruits the Group A and Group B officers at the technical positions for the Government of India. The IES exam is a three-stage recruitment process - IES Preliminary, IES Main and Personality Test. On the basis of the merit of candidates in the IES exam, they are recommended to the Union Government for the available posts. The nature of work for an engineering officer selected through the IES exam depends on the engineering branch and the cadre s/he is recruited.

IES 2022 Admit Card
UPSC released the ESE 2022 admit card on January 31 exactly twenty-one days before the exam. IES admit card is the official document that establishes the right to enter the examination centre. It is the essential document required to appear in the exam.

IES 2022 Exam Eligibility
It is mandatory for candidates to comply with the eligibility norms as prescribed by UPSC in order to be able to appear for the Engineering Services Examination. The admissions at all three stages of the examination will be purely provisional and are subject to fulfilling the eligibility norms.

IES Exam Age Limit
The upper age limit of 30 years is relaxable up to 35 years in case of government servants serving in the following categories:

Note: Relaxation will not be considered to probationary officers appointed against a permanent post. However, relaxation in case of probation will be considered of the officer appointed already retains a lien on a permanent post in a Department/Office under the control of authorities as listed above.
Age relaxation in case of Railways

IES 2021 Prelims Exam Analysis

IES 2022 Notification
The IES 2022 notification was released on September 22 as per the UPSC exam calendar. The IES notification 2022 was issued for 247 vacancies. The prelims exam will be conducted on February 20, 2022. The IES notification is released online only and the candidates need to fill the IES application online only before the last date of submission. The last date of the IES application is mentioned in the IES notification.

IES Exam Process
Step 1: IES Application Form 2022
- The candidates need to fill the IES application form 2022. The forms are available online on the official website of UPSC
- While filling up the form, candidates have to select the preferred venue for the test centre
- After filling the form, the candidates need to submit the prescribed application fees as per their category

Step 2: Download IES Admit Card 2022
- The IES admit card 2021 will be issued on the official website for downloads. The candidates will need their application number and date of birth to download the admit card
- UPSC admit card is an important document having a variety of information. We suggest preserving the admit cards until the admission process is successfully conducted
Step 3: IES Preliminary Exam 2022
- Students need to appear for IES 2021 preliminary entrance exam as per the schedule mentioned in the important date’s section
- Aspirants are advised to reach the exam centre at least an hour before the commencement of the exam
Step 4: IES Prelims Result 2022
- IES 2022 prelims result will be declared approximately one month after the prelims exam.
- Candidates shall check their IES preliminary results once announced, by simply submitting their application number and date of birth on the official website.
- After the IES Result for prelims, the candidates need to fill out the IES Main Detailed Application Form(DAF) for the IES Main Exam.
Step 5: IES Main Exam 2022
- Students who clear the IES preliminary examination will be allowed to appear for IES 2022 main exam schedule to be conducted on June 26, 2022.
- Aspirants are advised to reach the exam centre at least an hour before the commencement of the IES Main exam
Step 6: IES Main Result
- UPSC will be declaring the results for IES main exams on their official website.
- Candidates will be able to check their IES main results once announced, by simply submitting their application number and date of birth on the official website.
- Candidates who clear the IES main exam will then be called for the interview round. This will be the final stage of the IES exam selection process.
Step 7: IES Interview
IES selection process comprises the Personal Interview round. Candidates who clear both IES pre and main examinations are only allowed to participate in the final interview round. Only those candidates who clear the personal interview round will be qualified for the recruitment process.
Step 8: IES Result
After the interviews, the final result will be declared by UPSC and the candidates will be recommended for the appointment purposes. This will be the final process after which candidates will join the government offices as Executive engineers, mid-level managers or bureaucrats.
Step 9: IES Cut-off and Reserve List
IES cut-off will be released after the final result. In addition to the IES cut-off marks, IES reserve list will also be issued stating the number of candidates for each category and for each Engineering branch.
IES Answer Key
The UPSC releases the IES Answer Key after the IES result is declared. The IES answer key is the only authentic source to know the answers of the questions asked in the IES Prelims exam. The IES prelims exam is a new stage added in the Engineering Services exam. The candidates should download the IES prelims answer key of previous and with the previous year question paper and their answer key, the candidates can understand the important topics and areas from where the questions were asked. In addition to that the official answers can help them to prepare the topic in a better way.

IES Exam Centre
The IES prelims and the main exam are conducted at the designated UPSC exam centres. The list of UPSC IES exam centres is provided in the notification itself. The candidates can check the complete list of the IES exam centres below.

It may be noted that the provision of the sealing of the seats will take place on the number of candidates allotted to each of the centres. The centres for which sealing will take place will exclude Delhi, Dispur, Kolkata and Nagpur.
Allotment of IES Exam Centres will be made on first cum first serve basis. Applicants who are unable to occupy a seat in their choice of centre will be allotted a seat in the remaining vacant seats at other centres.
Candidates should note that the request for a change of examination centre will not be entertained under any circumstances.
