A comprehensive medical insurance is needed by international students planning to study in Ireland. The insurance must provide a coverage of minimum of €25,000 for accident and €25,000 for illness. Also, it should cover any period of hospitalization through out the term of the insurance. Repatriation cover is another aspect one should consider while selecting the health insurance policy. The students can also look for insurance policies where dental and optical coverage are included.

Vanier recommends its students to have a medical and hospital insurance that covers a academic year at the college. It does provide students with basic health insurance coverage with GreenShield. All students enrolled in UG, graduate or professional programs are automatically enrolled in the college's Basic Student Health Services.
Students can opt out of the college's insurance coverage by submitting proof of an existing insurance cover from a different insurer.
