Pre-University College (PUC) is the most popular option after class 10.
PUC is a 2 year course with 1 major board exam at the end of the second year PUC/ class 12th.
1. Every student must study 4 core subjects in each branch along with 1st language English and 2nd language (Kannada, Sanskrit, Hindi, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, French, German and Arabic).

Hi,
These days degree courses are looked down especially if it is social sciences.1. Graduation with hons in History opens your way to all the jobs with graduation as minimum eligibility criteria such as SSC, UPSC or IBPS/Bank PO.
2. Teaching: If you want to teach at secondary level I.e. class 6th to class 10th, you may go for B. Ed. and if you wish to teach at senior secondary level I.e. 11th and 12th, you would have to do Masters in History. To teach at university level Masters in History with NET is required (many universities prefer M.Phil /PhD)

Yes, You can do it after engineering.
Through the distance mode: IGNOU
If you want to do in some prestigious institutions:
By joining in college: JNU in SSS(School of Social Sciences) or SIS (School of International Studies). The latter will focus more on IR.
There are many other good institutes like DU, Central Universities soon. For both of these after applying you have to write an entrance test.
