The School of Hotel Management (SIHM) in Siddhpur has made its position feel of the Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) program but the rank may feel from year to year or by the type of ranking used. In general parlance, SIHM Siddhpur is well known among the growing universities of India offering hotel management and catering technology education, the institution falling within the rankings of the twenty to thirty universities in the surveys relating to hospitality management education. Though it may not be as famous as some other institutes like the Institutes of Hotel Management (IHM), the sprawling campus of SIHM Siddhpur boasts of its well rounded curriculum having competent faculty and expanding industry links. The authors wrote the paper to show that there are other factors apart from rankings that prospective students should keep in mind when selecting the institution at which they want to study hospitality.

When comparing both an Institute of School of Hotel Management Medak and Institute of Hotel Management RIG in Greater Noida in particular focusing on doing B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration we need to understand that both institutions provide good platform for this study, however they can be different in some ways. IHM RIG is regarded as one of the best institutions in India due to available faculty, more number of connections with the industries and updated infrastructure which in turn provide good placement to the candidates. On the other hand SIHM Medak is little hard of financial burdens and offers good education and may have a good reputation locally. Lastly, the decision as to which course to take is best informed by location, personal pocket and planned career path, though IHM RIG is considered to hold more prestige.

The industrerial grade package offered to the BSc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration students at SIHM Udaipur is usually between INR 2.5 lacs to INR 4.5 lacs per annum. But again, the actual numbers depend on the class grade, internships, and the employers who turn up for the campus placement. Compared to the more established IHMs across India, SIHM Udaipur is relatively young as an institute and as a result many of the employers that target the institute’s graduates are affiliated to regional hotel chains and the tourism industry. The placements are on an upward trend, and the better and higher packaged placements may be offered to the students with better skills and work experience as at present the placement opportunities are still in the process of development.

NCHM JEE is the National Council for Hotel Management Joint Entrance Examination which IHM Bodhgaya considers for admittance to its BSc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration course. This is a national level examination that gets taken by students aspiring to join some of the best hospitality and hotel management institutes in India. Candidates seeking admission to IHM Bodhgaya have to qualify in NCHM JEE which has questions and questions based on English language, logical reasoning, general knowledge, and service sector skills. Like the other IHMs, this examination is the only standard entry requirement for this course and any other entrance tests are not acknowledged.

NCHM JEE scores are acceptable in SIHM Odisha for enrolling in the BSc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration program. This test is conducted at a national level just as a pass way for students to get into their preferred hotel and tourism institutes across the country. On the basis of merit of this examination that tests the candidates in English, reasoning, general knowledge, and service sector aptitude the candidates are finally selected. Hence, the more the rank obtained through NCHM JEE, greater are the probabilities of getting admission in an institute such as SIHM Odisha. For this particular course there are no other entrance exams that is offered and the only acceptable examination in this case is NCHM JEE.
