Since the college is newly open, its temporary campus is presently running at NIT-Trichy, which is among the top 10 Universities of India. As it is growing college, you will be treated very well with some good faculty members, you must go there talking about ECE branch, it is good there. The environment for this branch is very good and practical there.

IIIT Trichy is an average college for B.Tech in ECE. Placements are not so good in this college, infrastructure is average, faculty and crowd/ campus life is good. You can also read reviews here given by the bona fide students of this college

Yes, according to me, you should go for IIIT and not for IIT as CS has more scope than mechanical and the college doesn't matter in comparison to branch, what will be the benefit if you get a job in mechanical and not get promotion due to its very less scope.
