You should decide for yourself. If you are confident that you can crack the JEE for CSE then you should drop a year, otherwise, don't waste your time. You can also lose what you have now. So, as per my opinion, don't drop and start studying now in IIIT. Placements totally depend on you. If you have good skills and knowledge then you will get placed easily either you are in IIT, NIT, IIIT or any other private college.
So, all the best.
Good luck.

You have to give JEE Main examination, and then a rank list is published on marks basis. You have to also score more than 75% marks in boards to get seat at IIITs.

It totally depends on your choice, because we can't compare two branches. If you desire for CSE, go for IIIT, or else go for NIT -Hamirpur. Choose wisely. If you are asking for infrastructures, then NIT Hamirpur is well established and IIIT is running inside NIT-Jamshedpur.

As IIIT-Ranchi is mentored by NIT Jamshedpur, all the facilities of NIT is available for IIIT students. So, you can take admission in IIIT-Ranchi, as this is the best option among above.

Your chances of getting ECE are quite low. Try for some other good private colleges.
