Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is one of the top Engineering institutes in India. It ranks 118 in QS World University Rankings 2025. However, this ranking is not specifically for the Engineering category. The institute is also ranked by several national ranking bodies such as NIRF and India Today. In the NIRF 2024 rankings under Engineering category, IITB was ranked 3 for three consecutive years.

IIT Bombay is one of the top Engineering institutes in the country. It has also successfully grabbed international recogniton as it has been ranked #118 in the QS World Rankings 2025. Apart from this, many ranking bodies in India have ranked it for its BTech course. In the NIRF 2024 rankings under the Engineering category, IITB has been ranked #3. The institute has successfully maintained its position from the last three years'.

IIT Bombay BTech admission is through JEE Main and Advanced only. There is no separate application fee of the institute. To take the JEE Mains examination, students should pay the application fee. JEE Main application fee is between Rs 500 and 1000 depending upon the gender and category of students.
Students who qualify Mains become eligible to take the JEE Advanced exam. The application fee for JEE Advanced is Rs 1600 for female and reserved category candidates, and INR 3200 for other candidates. The fee payment can be done online.

IIT Bombay offers admission to BS courses based on JEE Main scores of the candidates. Further, aspirants who clear JEE Advanced need to take part in JoSAA counselling during which the seat allotment is carried out. Besides, Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements, which is Class 12 with 75% aggregate in PCM are eligible to apply for BS.

IIT Bombay offers admission to MSc course based on IIT JAM score followed by CCMN Counselling. The seat allotment is carried out based on document verification, seat intake, and category of the students, during the counselling. Besides, candidates with a valid bachelor’s degree issued by a recognised university are eligible for admission to the PG course.

Yes, IIT Bombay offers MSc for two-years. The PG-level course is available in seven specialisations, including Chemistry, Biotechnology, Applied Geology, Applied Geophysics, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Statistics & Informatics. Moreover, the institute also offers MSc + PhD (dual degree) course in three specialisations including Environmental Science & Engineering, Operations Research, Energy Science & Engineering.

The colleges and institutes offer BE/BTech in Environmental Engineering, which is a four-year programme, and ME/MTech in Environmental Engineering, which is a two-year programme. Apart from that, the college also offers integrated course in Environmental Engineering. Candidates who wish to pursue BTech courses are required to clear JEE Advanced whereas for M.Tech courses are required to clear GATE. The average placement package offered during 2023 was INR 23.26 LPA. Hence, IIT Bombay offers excellent and competitive course in Environmental Engineering.
