The best placement rate in 2025 was recorded for BTech Environmental Engineering, wherein the placement rate was 100%. It was followed by BTech CSE and BTech ECE with placement percentage of 92.14% and 90.09%. For BTech Double Major degree, the placement rate in 2025 was 100%.
The placement rate recorded during BTech + MTech placement 2025 was 100%, except Civil Engineering, wherein the placement rate was 50%.
The placement rate recorded during Integrated MTech placements 2025 for Applied Geology, Applied Geophysics and Mathematics & computing branches was 87.5%, 81.82% and 90.91%.

The 2024 placement drive is still in progress. As per the information available on the official website of the college as of March 28, 2024, 909 job offers had been provided by various companies. A total of 204 organisations visited the university, and 860 students were hired. The median and average packages offered by IIT Dhanbad placements in 2024 were INR 12.50 LPA and INR 16.45 LPA, respectively. In addition, 321 internship opportunities were extended to the 2025 group. According to the official website, the overall 2024 average package for BTech, MTech, and other courses was INR 16.45 LPA. The placement rate for UG circuital branches dropped by nearly 4% from 2022 to 2023. On the other hand, the placement rate for PG Engineering and Science branches increased by nearly 34% from 2022 to 2023. The placement percentage for MBA has also increased from 2022 to 2023.
