There were many openings to all companies that served the purpose, but due to the coal blocks' reauctioning, few placements were available for the mining department itself.

A comprehensive review of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.
Placements: About 87% of students got placed in my branch. The highest is 69 LPA. The lowest is 13 LPA. The average is around 15 LPA. For our course, top recruiters are Vedanta, Orica, JSW, Tata Steel, Accenture, etc. Less than 1% of students got internships from our course in companies like Tata Steel and JSW. Data analytics engineer and mining engineer are roles.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available in labs, classes, hostels, and library. Qualities of the food is good in the mess and canteen. Medical facilities are quite good. There is a sports activity centre where you can play various sports like badminton, basketball, and table tennis.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified, knowledgeable, and helpful. The teaching quality is good here. The curriculum is relevant and is mostly the amalgamation of current industry needs with a good academic background. Semester exams are not difficult, and the passing percentage is almost 95%.
Other: Fests are good. The campus crowd is awesome. Connectivity is good. The campus surroundings are quite good. Extracurricular activities are quite good.

I am absolutely dissatisfied with the surrounding environment, but the placement opportunities are g
Placements: It is not too bad. As we are in IIT we get higher preference over others and two of our branches mining and Petro perform well. The SDE role jobs are also good with a package of around 20 LPA as our median. The lower branches also get good chances to compete with others but our ranking in IITS is low. So concerning higher IIT some low preference and opportunities are available to us.
Infrastructure: For my particular course, the facilities are good. We have well-established labs and classrooms. The teachers and Ph.D. scholars help us a lot with these things. We live in the new Aquamarine hostel, which is good—it's not too bad but above average. We have 24/7 Wi-Fi facilities
Faculty: The pattern of questions they ask is valuable and the process of examination is also very strict. They will increase activities in this also as making a presentation, having viva in the group, have group discussions. Which enhances our potential to perform well. The exam controllers are very strict if they find someone cheating they will immediately make it back for that course. Overall it is satisfactory.
Other: I would like to know all of you that I haven't choose this course. As we are studying at IIT the branches are allotted on a rank basis. In starting I feel that I have wasted my life but now I know the importance of my branch and studies in it. I am enjoying it for a great future. I think if the course is 10 semesters we can get more opportunities to learn extra things too. The events are good and are at a satisfactory level, all of us are enjoying it and making memories.

Great Infra, Poor Faculty, Average Placements.
Placements: In my course year 2024 for seniors, 63% were placed, but in the 2025 year, 30% of students have been placed till now. The highest package is 14 LPA, and the average is 5 LPA. Recruiting companies are Vedanta, Tata Steel, GMDC, Orica, etc. The internship percentage in my course is 10%.
Infrastructure: The heritage building for my department is very old, approximately 100 years old. Classrooms have projectors and boards available, but Wi-Fi is not available. My hostel quality is good, but the mess food taste is not good. Medical facilities are also poor, but sports and games are good.
Faculty: Teaching quality is good, but they do not provide practical knowledge. This course curriculum includes excursions. The college exam level is average. There is no passing percentage; there is relative marking. Percentages are not decided; it depends on the relative performance.
Other: IIT Dhanbad is famous for mining; that's why I chose this course. Events include Khanan for mining, Srijan is the cultural fest, and Concetto is the technical fest. There are also clubs for extracurricular activities like WTC, LITM, LITC, Mic Drop, etc. I want to improve the placement percentage in my course because companies are not coming due to a lack of mining knowledge, and companies are not hiring students. I want faculty improvement. There are also scholarship opportunities like the National Scholarship Portal, etc.

Good because of good teachers and infrastructure.
Placements: 80 to 85% of students are placed in my course. The highest package is around 40 LPA, the lowest is 5 LPA, and the average package is 12-15 lakhs. Tata Steel, Coal India, Orica, JSW, and GMDC are the top companies in my course. 40% of students get internship offers in companies like Tata Steel, JSW, Orica, Jindal, and Accenture for consultancy also. The top role offered in my course is Mining Engineer.
Infrastructure: Facilities like projectors, enough study tables for each student, and AC in each room are present. Smart class facilities are also available for my course, and free Wi-Fi is also there. There is a dedicated part of my course in the central library of my college. My hostel facilities are quite good compared to other colleges; in my hostel, we have 1 room with 2-person accommodation with 1 almirah, 2 tables, 2 chairs, 2 beds, and 1 more almirah for books. The quality of food in my mess is not that good, to be honest, but the menu is full of variety.
Faculty: There are many qualified and knowledgeable teachers in my college. But talking about their teaching quality, it's not that good or not that bad; it's average. Teachers are helpful and approachable. Some faculty members are very helpful and kind. The course curriculum is very relevant, and of course, yes, it makes students ready for the industry. Semester exams are not that difficult or not that easy; a medium level is followed, and the pass percentage depends upon the respective faculty because our college follows relative grading.

Beautiful campus with greenery all around and good infrastructure buildings.
Placements: Approximately 70 percent of the students in my course get placed in various sectors. Some are in tech fields in big companies like Google, Amazon, PhonePe, Flipkart, etc., while others are in non-core sectors, including GAIL, CIL, etc. About 20 percent of the students in my course get the opportunity for internships if they are diligent and doing very well in their academics.
Infrastructure: 24-hour power supply and Wi-Fi are available in classes and hostels. The library is big, and Wi-Fi is available there as well. Hostel rooms are small, and the mess is decent. Medical facilities are quite good here, with an ambulance always ready to take students to the campus hospital.
Faculty: The faculty members are very interactive with the students. Whenever they are in their office, we can go to their chamber and ask our academic doubts. Some professors also guide us regarding career goals. I chose the mining course as it is very practical. The curriculum prepares us very well for real-world applications. Some professors are very aged, so we are not able to understand them well; this could be improved. The mid-semester exam is held two months after the semester starts, and the end-semester exam is held two and a half months after the mid-semester.
Other: Various fests are organized here, like Concetto in the month of October, which is a technical fest. There is also another mining fest called Khanan, also organized in October. A cultural fest, Srijan, is held in the last month of January. Every book is available in the library. The sports grounds are not very large here. The course is quite good and provides placements for students.

You are basically asking about IIT. IIT doesn't provide lateral admission and not even regular admission through management quota. Your Diploma is however eligible for admission into mining engineering. I would suggest pursuing the course from another college.

IIT, Dhanbad admits its undergraduate student's through Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced), previously-JEE. Admission into IIT Dhanbad is a two-step process. One needs to qualify JEE Main and then give the JEE Advanced. Admissions are based on the JEE Advanced rank.
