Really good placements in 2025.

Placements: As of the 2024–25 placement season, the B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering program at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad achieved a placement rate of approximately 68.18%. This indicates that about two-thirds of ECE students secured job offers during this cycle. The highest package offered is 51 LPA, the average package is 20 LPA, and the lowest package is 7 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Samsung R&D, Intel, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Flipkart, etc.

Infrastructure: The facilities provided for the ECE department are a VLSI lab, a SAP lab, a communication lab, a fiber optic lab, and a metamaterial lab. The central library is open every day, with good air-conditioned facilities for studying. Wi-Fi is available 24/7 throughout the campus. Different kinds of sports are played on campus, such as cricket, football, basketball, hockey, tennis, etc.

Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and have doctorates. They have knowledge, and their way of teaching is very good and easily understandable. The course curriculum is very good and makes students industry-ready. The semester exams do not feel so difficult, as the faculty's teaching is good enough to pass. The pass percentage is about 97%.

Other: Different kinds of fests are conducted in our college, like Srijan, the cultural fest, Parakram, the sports fest, Kanan, Concetto, etc. Students from different colleges are invited to participate in the fests conducted by our college. I chose this course because I am interested in developing both hardware and software knowledge.

The story of IIT (ISM).

Placements: Actually, my course has good core side placement opportunities. But on my campus in the past few years, the placements in the core are not good as expected. But the trend is changing slowly due to demand for my branch hopefully, by the time I pass out of campus, the placements will get better.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, infrastructure, and facilities are good. There are a few old hostels in which the infrastructure is not impressive. Food also depends on the hostels. Many hostels do not have a good mess menu and the taste is also not that much good. The quantity is also limited.

Faculty: Difficulty of semester exams depends on the semester, course, and also on the professor dealing with the subject. The pass percentage is fixed at 80% or above and can be changed by the professor's will. But mostly the percentage will be the same due to relative grading.

Living IIT Life: A heaven.

Placements: Around 90% of students got placed last year from our branch. Electronics and communication is a very vast branch that involves both hardware and software parts so placement also increased from our branch. Overall a very good branch and a very good placement record not only in our branch but from various branches in our college.

Infrastructure: Labs, classrooms, and libraries provide internet Wi-Fi at a very decent speed. Hostel infrastructure is also nice. Food quality is average. We enjoy a special dinner almost every 1.5 months. Our college also has separate grounds for various sports. Special canteens are also there for some good food.

Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified and also very good. If any student listens properly in class then he/she get more than 9 CGPA easily. Some courses make a student industry-ready and also it depends on professors. Some professors give some extra knowledge for further use.

Other: Little interest and a little depends on my rank upon selecting this course. Most things are up to the mark but want to change few things which will make more big companies to get interested to our college.

IIT (ISM) Dhanbad is one of the oldest institutes and known for its 100 years of legacy since 1926.

Placements: In overall college, around 80-90% of students got placed. In all departments like ECE, around 85% of students get placed annually. The highest package offered to ECE students is around 56 LPA. The average was around 25.4 LPA last time. Top companies include FAANG and MAANG along with some core like Texas Qualcomm, etc.

Infrastructure: Hostel facilities are excellent. There is a newly constructed 13-floor-storey building with a modern design and all basic amenities. Canteen services are also there all around the campus and also the hostel itself. It includes ende machines for each Hostel. The mess facilities are decent and not so good. Sports and games along with other activities are all available for all students.

Faculty: All teachers are highly qualified. They are educated by very reputed institutions all around the world. The course structure is also well-designed to meet future requirements. Sometimes, it is modified by professors to match future requirements. Semester exams are tough as involve relatively grading and all students are equally competitive to compete for high grades as far as possible.

Placements: The placement sessions are very good here, many companies come and take students in bulk. They get several job roles. The average package offered in my branch is 20.51 LPA, the maximum was 51 LPA. The top recruiters are Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Accenture, and Texas Instruments.

Infrastructure: There are different hostels for each discipline as well as years. Hostel food quality is good relative to other colleges. We have access to Wi-Fi everywhere throughout the campus at a good speed. Classrooms have proper ventilation systems, and every classroom has a digital board. The library is Asia's 2nd largest technical library. We have a health center which is free for all, and it has all necessary facilities.

Faculty: The teachers are helpful, and they provide a clear overview of the course before it starts. Every professor is graduated from top universities, so they are qualified for the profession. Every year is divided into semesters: an easy semester and a hard semester to maintain a balance.

IIT ISM Dhanbad 99 years of LEGACY.

Placements: According to previous year data, 75-80 percent of students get placed, with the highest package of 59 Lacs and the lowest package of 18 Lacs. Top recruiters are Microsoft, Amazon, Nvidia, Samsung, etc. Top roles: chip designer, software engineer. Almost 75-80 percent get internships.

Infrastructure: The hostel is fully Wi-Fi installed and has two vending machines installed. Even the campus has vending machines installed everywhere, with two main shops, RD shop and Ruby Smart. IIT ISM has a well-structured and ventilated library with 7 floors. Classrooms have one problem: they are non-AC.

Faculty: Some of the faculty, like Jitendra Sir, Sucharita Maji Mam, and NK Singh, are great. Some of the teachers' assistants are also great, while some of the TAs, especially of psychology, are not cooperative and show attitude. Relevance: The course curriculum is strong with relevance for electronic engineering. Exams: Exams are difficult, even way more than difficult; it’s hard to score 8 CGPA.

Other: The batch has 1600 students enrolled this year. In my branch, ECE, there are 126 students. My course is good enough from a job perspective. Fest: Cultural festival: Srija happens in the month of February. Tech fest: Happens in the month of October. Sports fest: Parakram. The campus is beautiful and filled with greenery.
