For IIT Madras MSc admission, candidates need to apply online via IIT JAM. After successful registration, candidates are then required to appear for the entrance exam. Selected candidates are then called for the counselling round as a final selection round. IIT JAM registration window for 2026 is now closed, and the exam is scheduled for Feb 15, 2026.

Applicants must apply online via the institute's official website in order to be considered for admission to IIT Madras. Most courses at IIT Madras require an entrance test. Candidates must go to the National Testing Agency's (NTA) official website and complete the online JEE Main application form in order to be considered for admission to the IIT Madras BTech programme. The institute has not released the branch-wise placement rate. However, the sector-wise offers made are disclosed. The core sector appeared as the top preference with over 27.60% of students placed in it. The second preferred sector was IT. The institute has released branch-wise salary data for BTech and M.Tech courses. As per the report, the highest package offered to BTech, DD, and IDDD students from CSE was INR 1.31 crore per annum and for M.Tech CSE, the highest package stood at INR 54.21 LPA. The IIT Madras CSE average package is not out yet. Check the below table to know the IIT Madras CSE placement packages for 2023:
