NIT has a cosmo politan culture with a lot of students from all over India. Obviously, placements is good for almost all branches. CET is the oldest engineering college in Kerala and it has all the advantages of being located in state capital. CET fees is very less which is merely 6000 Rs per annum. Located in a large green campus, CET attracts best minds from Kerala through state entrance test. CET provides M Tech, MBA, MCA courses other than regular B Tech courses. They have also some rare courses like B Tech Industrial Engineering which is unique in case of Kerala. Placement is at par with NIT Calicut. Teaching standard is similar as other government Engineering Colleges. Its the students that make CET different. A lot of student coordinated activities happen here. Its a politically active campus unlike most of the engineering college is Kerala. Students are always in the front to make changes in society. CET students break the curfew
Model Engineering college is the first self financing college in Kerala. Established in 1989, its a relatively new college. Though the presence of MEC alumni in corporate circle is very commendable. Placement is the strong key point of MEC. Its similar to CET. MEC has strong linkage to corporate world with the support of its alumni association. Its a small college with zero campus, but a lot of activities happen throughout the year. Since its a self financing college, fees is high, 35k per annum. Also scarcity of government funds is a problem. It lacks a central computer centre and library is a small one. Teaching standard is similar as other self financing colleges. Though facilities and faculty are not at par with NIT or CET,. GEC Thrissur is one of the best government Engineering Colleges. Located in cultural capital of Kerala, its a very politically active campus. Fees is very less as in CET. GEC has a good campus. Faculty and facilities are more or less the same as CET.
