With a preparatory rank of 43 in the ST category in JEE Advanced, your chances of getting into an IIT in rounds 3 to 5 of JoSAA counseling are possible, but it depends on various factors such as the opening and closing ranks for each IIT and branch. Typically, preparatory rank students are given seats in IITs if there are vacancies, but the branches available might be limited to less popular ones.

You should keep an eye on the JoSAA counseling rounds and the specific cutoffs for your category. If you don't secure a seat in the earlier rounds, there's still a chance in the later rounds as the cutoffs might decrease if seats rem

NIT Tiruchirappalli (NIT Trichy) does not consider JEE Advanced rank for admission. Instead, the JoSAA counselling process based on the JEE Main ranks is considered. The needed rank varies branch and category wise In case of top branches like Computer Science, the cutoff remains usually below 2,000 for general category students. The cutoffs of other branches may be higher. For the latest updates, please visit JoSAA official website for the cutoffs.

Meeting certain cutoff ranks in both JEE Mains and JEE Advanced is necessary to gain admission to the Computer Science Engineering (CSE) branch at prestigious universities like IITs and NITs.

Cutoff percentile for JEE Mains: General Category in 2024 was 93.23.
OBC-NCL Category: 79.68 was the cutoff percentile.

General Category JEE Advanced Cutoff: 30.34% was the cutoff percentile.
OBC-NCL Category: 27.30% was the cutoff percentile.

Institution-Specific Cutoffs: IITs: The starting and ending ranks for CSE change every year. For example, the CSE cutoff for the General category at IIT Kharagpur in 2024 varied from 1 to 1,000.
NITs: In 2024

Securing direct admission to IITs is improbable with a 12th-grade PCM score of 81% and a SC preparation rank of 4203 in JEE Advanced 2024, as this rank normally falls above the cutoff for SC category seats. However if you don't meet the regular cutoffs, you can be eligible for a one-year preparatory course that IITs give to SC, ST and PwD candidates. Students can be admitted to the following academic year after successfully completing this course. To investigate your alternatives you must take part in the Joint Seat Allocation Authority's (JoSAA) counseling procedure.

With a JEE Advanced SC category rank of 2,900, getting admission to Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) or Electrical Engineering (EE) programs in the older, more established IITs is doubtful, as their closing ranks for these branches are often significantly lower. However, newer IITs and other National Institutes of Technology (NITs) may give prospects.

Possible IITs:

IIT Bhubaneswar: The CSE closing rank has historically been approximately 2,806.
IIT (BHU) Varanasi: About 1,010 was the ending rank for CSE.
Possible NITs:
NIT Trichy: The closing rank for SC category candidates from various states has been about 2,773 for Electronics a

Your, prospects of getting into prestigious NITs or IITs in-demand fields like computer Science or electronics are slim if your JEE Main rank is 17000 and your JEE Advanced rank is 20000. Other respectable NITs and branches however might provide you prospects.

Possible Branches and NITs:

NIT Kurukshetra: Production, Industrial and Civil Engineering
Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at NIT Durgapur
NIT Silchar: Civil and Mechanical Engineering
These recommendations are based on the cutoff trends from prior years and they might change every year depending on things like application performance and seat availability.

It may be difficult to gain admission to the older, more prestigious IITs with a JEE Advanced rank of 14,000 particularly for in-demand fields like computer Science or electronics. You stand a high chance of being admitted to a newer IIT or to a particular branch of an older IIT though. In 2024 for example the final rankings for Mechanical Engineering at a few IITs were:

9,362 at IIT Bhubaneswar
8,829 at IIT Mandi
8,780 at IIT Jodhpur
Depending on your rank, you may want to look at these or other IITs Civil Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Biotechnology departments. Further choices might be found by investigating National Institu

You are in a competitive position for admission under the PwD quota if you have a PwD preparatory course CRL of 79 in JEE Advanced. Depending on annual cutoffs and seat availability historical trends indicate that having such a rank could guarantee you a spot in one of the older IITs, possibly in areas like mechanical, electrical or even core computer science. Branch allocation, however varies greatly and depends on a number of variables including overall performance, particular IIT policies and annual fluctuations in competition Examining the most recent JoSAA counseling data in detail is essential for the most precise current admitta

Yes, you can appear in the JEE Advance if your category is ST/SC, or OBC but mostly cut off of general students are than 90 percentile, so if you are general category, it may or may not depend upon cut off.
