If a student wants to join the IIT Roorkee BTech or BSc programme, then appearing for JEE Advanced is mandatory. Students have to clear the JEE Advanced cutoff and participate in counselling to get a seat. However, for any non-BTech/ BSc programme, JEE Advanced is not required. Students may submit alternate exams instead.

Taking a drop year for IIT JEE is a serious decision, so the choice between individual tuition vs coaching institute should be practical, not emotional.
If you already have very strong basics and just need personal attention, then individual tuition can help in clearing specific doubts. But in most drop-year cases, students need full syllabus revision, proper planning, regular tests, and competition — and that is where a structured coaching setup becomes more useful.
In a coaching institute, you usually get:
- Fixed schedule (keeps you disciplined for 1 year)
- Regular tests + analysis (very important for JEE)
- Exposure to competition

hi,
For admission into Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (often called IIT Mumbai), the required rank in Joint Entrance Examination Advanced depends on the branch and your category. For top branches like Computer Science, you typically need a rank within ~1–70 (General category). For Aerospace Engineering, the closing rank is usually around ~1500–2500 (General). Cutoffs vary each year based on difficulty, seat matrix, and competition. Reserved categories (OBC, SC, ST) have comparatively relaxed ranks. To be safe, aim for the best possible rank, ideally within the top 2000 for good core branches at IIT-B.
