With an ST category JEE Main rank of 5000+ and a JEE Advanced prep rank of 2000+, the possibilities of getting a seat in a top IIT or NIT are subject to cutoffs, seat availability, and branch choice. Admission to IITs is competitive, but new IITs such as IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Jodhpur, or IIT Dhanbad can be accessed for some branches. NITs such as NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal, or NIT Surathkal might be possible for branches like Civil or Metallurgy. Verify JoSAA cutoffs and attend counseling rounds for better opportunities. Use branch vs. institute preference while choosing.

Having a rank of more than 2000 in the ST category in JEE Advanced may prevent admission to the more popular streams in top IITs. But you still hold a possibility of getting admission into another branch or newer IITs. Admission cutoffs change every year depending on variables such as the number of applicants, seats, and difficulty in exams. One would do well to visit the original Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) website for up-to-date, in-depth cutoff details.

With a JEE Main rank of 21,000 in the SC category, you have a good chance of being admitted to several National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other Government Funded Technical Institutions.

Admission insights:

NITs: Many NITs have closing ranks for SC applicants that exceed 21,000, particularly in civil, chemical, and metallurgical engineering.

IIITs: In past years, SC category closing ranks at IIIT Una and IIIT Kilohrad were higher than yours.

GFTIs: Several GFTIs provide seats to SC candidates ranked around 21,000.

With a JEE Main 2024 EWS category rank of 41,183, admission to prestigious universities such as NITs (National Institutes of Technology) and IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology) may be difficult, as their closing ranks in the EWS category are often significantly lower. For example in prior years, the closing ranks for popular branches at top NITs and IIITs were in the range of several thousand.

However there are still choices to consider:
Government-Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs): Some GFTIs have higher closing ranks, and depending on your EWS category rank you may find jobs in specific branches.
