If you are applying for Masters programme, then an entrance exam is carried out, and if you are applying for Bachelors programme, then it depends upon your marks in class 12th. If you are looking for journalism and Mass Communication, then better to opt for degree programme course that includes combo of both these fields. Apart from this, you have option to go with either journalism degree or with mass communication one. And, you may also apply for some certificate or Diploma courses like that of photography, editing, writing etc. But, best is to go with journalism + Mass communication. You can apply for journalism after completing B.Com. But, it is better to go for Masters in journalism, it will be of 2 years. The criteria varies according to the college you are taking part in. Like if you are going for private colleges then it requires approximately 50% - 60% or maybe less to 45%. Thank you.

St. Xavier's is one of the prestigious and faithful brands. It is a huge value place and study pattern is awesome there. So, it is obviously a nice choice. St. Xavier's conducts an entrance exam to get the students from all the corners. You just need to clear that. Apart, from this I'll advice you to make a proper check of its study pattern, facilities, fee structure etc. Apart from Ranchi, you can also consider one in Mumbai or Kolkata.

Open University, Reva University, Dayananda Sagar University, Kristu Jayanti College and there are many more too, choose as per your comfortability in terms of commuting, and if it is affordable or not and especially for future placements and career.
