International students applying for courses taught in English at University of Groningen are required to show their proficiency in English language. But native English speakers are given exemption. The minimum English language requirements for international students are:

At Wrexham Glyndwr University, all the international students are required to submit their English language exam scores as a proof of proficiency in the language. The most popular English language qualification is IELTS, and the majority of admission criteria are specified in terms of the IELTS score needed. IELTS scores only remain valid for two years.

Aberystwyth University's accepts all the major English language proficiency exam scores from all international students, ie; IELTS, TOEFL, PTE & Cambridge, along with country-specific qualifications. The University of Central Missouri accepts Duolingo score for admission from international students. A proof of English language proficiency score has to be submitted by the international students in order to take admission at UCM. In place of Duolingo score, students can also submit IELTS or TOEFL score. The scores required in Duolingo at the undergraduate and graduate levels are given below:
