Law Entrance Exam

The syllabus of CLAT and AILET is similar for topics such as reasoning, general knowledge, and English. The CLAT has two additional sections: quantitative reasoning and Legal Reasoning. According to experts, the following are the section-wise recommended books for both law exams:
1. English Language: For AILET Objective General English by RS Aggarwal and English Grammar and Composition by Wren & Martin is suggested. For CLAT you can prefer Objective General English 2023 by SP Bakshi or RS Aggarwal and The Pearson Guide to the CLAT by Pearson.
2. Current Affairs and General Knowledge: You can choose either CA magazine for both exams. Normally, Pratiyogita Darapan or Current Affairs Yearly by Arihant are preferred for CA. For GK, Arihant General Knowledge, Lucent, or Tarun Goyal's GK book can be preferred. You must also read newspapers regularly for both law exams.
3. Logical Reasoning: For this section, usually any good reasoning book, such as A Modern Approach to Logical Reasoning by RS Agarwal, Analytical Reasoning by MK Pandey, or A New Approach to Verbal and Analytical Reasoning by Arihant, can be followed.
4. Quantitative Techniques: This section is only asked in the CLAT exam, and you can prefer any good math practice book from Fast Track Objective Arithmetic by Arihant Publications, 30 Days Wonder for Maths by S. Hand, or Quantitative Aptitude by RS. Aggarwal.
5. Legal Reasoning: This section is also dropped from AILET. You can follow the Legal Reasoning books of any writer from Pearson, Andhra Pradesh Bhardwaj, or RS Aggarwal.

Usually, it is tougher to get through AILET than the CLAT exam due to the following reasons:
1. Less seats: The AILET is only for admission to NLU Delhi, and therefore the competition compared to available seats is higher in the AILET exam than in the CLAT exam.
2. Pattern: As per the latest syllabus, the logical reasoning section will have more weight in the AILET paper, making it more difficult to score.
3. Question type: The questions in the English, GK, and reasoning sections of AILET are more difficult than those on the CLAT paper.
4. Marking by weightage of score: The number of questions in both papers is the same, i.e., 150, but the weighting of the marks allotted to sections differs. Since there are five sections in CLAT you can pick up any three well-prepared sections to score as per your preparation. In AILET, you need to study all three sections thoroughly to pass, as the 150 marks are divided into three sections. However, the AIET 2023 will be conducted as per the updated pattern, and as per the analysis of the latest exam, this analysis could be updated.

CLAT and AILET are the two most prominent law entrance exams in India to get admission to NLU. The following are the differences between CLAT and AILET papers:
1. Score acceptance: The CLAT score is accepted for admission to 22 NLUs, whereas the AILET exam is administered for admission to the NLU, Delhi.
2. Duration: The AILET exam lasts 90 minutes, while the CLAT exam lasts 120 minutes.
3. Pattern: The total marks are 150 in both tests, but the AILET exam has only three sections whereas the CLAT exam has five sections.
4. Difficulty Level: As per the analysis of previous exams, the AILET is considered more difficult than the CLAT.
5. Syllabus: The syllabus is mostly the same for both exams, but the CLAT has additional Legal Reasoning and quantitative techniques sections that were dropped from the AILET. And if it's help you like it.

1- AILET is an exam only for NLU Delhi students. Though it is tougher than CLAT this exam has only relevance for NLU Delhi, as no other NLU or private college accepts AILET scores, whereas CLAT is considered by all NLUs except NLU Delhi. Private colleges also accept CLAT scores.
2- NLSIU was established far earlier than NLUD. Hence, the alumni network is far better. Apart from producing great lawyers, NLSIU also promotes more research and has more prestige at the national as well as international levels. Needless to say, ultimate placements are far better than NLUD. (Though placements at NLUD are also very good.
3- Bangalore is the IT hub of India. Hence, a huge number of companies are there. Hence, opportunities are seamless.
4- Apart from this, the climate in Delhi is extreme. But Bangalore has decent weather and climate. These are the reasons why people choose to be in NLSIU rather than NLUD. I hope this will help you.
