The difference between MA Music and Post Graduate Diploma course in Music is that MA Music is completed in 2 years whereas PGD in Music is completed within 6 months to 1 year. Furthermore, many private music training institutes which are run by professional musicians or music directors offer the short-term PGD course whereas top universities and private colleges offer MA course which is longer in duration and students are admitted to it through entrance examination.
