The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram runs its MSc course in four specialisations. The specialisations have a total of 20 students which results in the degree being small and competitive.

Thiruvananthapuram MSc programme at IISER is interdisciplinary and the syllabus is flexible, with electives being introduced at the second semester and onwards.
