1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology or Master's degree in Science or equivalent with a valid GATE score.
2. B.Tech from an IIT with CPI/CGPA of 8.0 or more. These are the two steps that you should follow to get admission.

M.Tech and MBA are two different fields, you first decide whether you want to go for technical background or business background. If you love studying your technical then go for M.Tech, otherwise MBA if your mind is towards business or even if money is a matter. For M.Tech, you have to clear GATE exam and for MBA you need to give CAT and comparatively CAT is easier than GATE, but as the trends are changing more people are tending towards CAT than GATE.
However, there are some colleges in India which give admission without appearing for GATE and CAT exams.

If you are good with your technical then you should definitely go for M.Tech, but if you want to change your stream and you are good with your communication skills then MBA is also a good option. As the job opportunities will be good for MBA in coming years if you pursue it from a reputed institute.

Distance course in technical subject has been under restrains lately by AICTE. I suggest you go for full time campus study as aftermath is not too colourful compared to full time. Moreover distance courses as such in technical subjects already provide hinderence in study.

Hello Amogh,
It is very nice to know your aim of going abroad for your M.Tech.
Yes, many students are heading for US or Canada or Western European countries. The countries which are witnessing decline in population are faced with reduced intake in their well-established colleges and hence offer good scholarships to prospective students. However there are many nuances to the whole process and hence I will strongly advise you to approach an agency which is dealing with sending students abroad and particularly to Western Europe or Canada.
