Massachusetts Institute of Technology is better for research careers, access to global tech companies and US / EU job market. While IITs are better if students want a career network in India. Indian students whose aim is to work in the top companies like Google, Amazon, or a startup, MIT provides a different ecosystem.
Students can choose IITs for their UG experience and then, maybe later they can choose to study abroad later. While both the institutions are extremely competitive for admissions, it is absolutely up to students which to choose, as per their preferences.

As a full-time student at MIT, students can cross-register for classes at Harvard University – Faculty of Arts and Sciences and one of the professional schools (some exceptions applicable). First-year UG student is not eligible for this. There is no additional fees to cross-register. Fees may apply for Harvard, for labs, studios or materials.

The essays in MIT application are crucial. The university asks 5 short questions plus 1 activity essay. MIT recommends students to be honest and authentic about their experiences. A few of these questions are What study field appeals to you? How students manage a challenge that they did not expect?

Fulbright Nehru Master's Scholarships are funded jointly by the Indian and US Governments for exceptional Indian students to study Master's courses at the U.S Universities such as MIT.
