Given below are the steps to apply for MIT scholarships for international students:

CSS Profile: CSS Profile is a tool provided by the MIT College Board and is used to determine if the candidate qualifies for a need-based MIT Scholarship. Documents required for the same include:

  • Candidate's parents' income tax returns or wage statements
  • Any other records of money earned
  • Current bank account balances
  • Records of investment
  • Records of untaxed income

The other method is to demonstrate financial need by submitting the Income or Parental Tax return document to the IDOC platform managed by the College board.

This sum is granted to help with the costs associated with the extra expenses such as sheets, towels & warm coats for the bedroom. The sum is split equally between the Fall & Spring semesters & is only available to first-year students.

International students interested in fianncial aids at MIT follow very much the same process as domestic applicants. MIT is known for offering 100% scholarships that too on a need-basis, to eligible students.

There are two methods to apply to a MIT scholarship:

  • Via CSS Profile:  The College board provides a tool that gauges whether a student is eligible for a MIT scholarship or not
  • Income or Parental Tax return document: A English translated version of your parent's tax return is to be submitted through the IDOC platform managed by the College Board.
