Some of the top colleges offering Materials Science courses include IITs, NITs, Jadavpur University, UPES Dehradun, Anna University, IIEST Shibpur, DTU, SASTRA University, MNNIT University, to name a few. There are more than 100 Material Science and Engineering colleges in India, out of which 87 are government colleges and around 20 are private colleges.

The duration of the undergraduate Materials Science course is four years. On the other hand, the postgraduate Materials Science course duration is two years. For PhD courses, the time span is between 3 years and 6 years, depending on your chosen topic of research.

Yes, Materials Science is an Engineering discipline. But it can be studied as a Science subject (BSc/MSc) as well.

For 2023, cut off was 4649 for General category candidates in All India quota for B.Tech. in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science in IIT Bombay - Indian Institute of Technology. For female candidates in general category under All India quota, 7838 was the closing rank. B.Tech cut off varies depending on the category and domicile/quota of the applicant.

IIT Indore BTech cutoff 2022 was 11,310 for General category candidates in All India quota for BTech in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science. Candidated seeking admission to IIT Indore BTech course must appear for JEE Main, followed by JEE Advanced in order to be eligible for admissions.
Further, for female candidates in general category under All India quota, 18,446 was the closing rank. IIT Indore BTech cut off varies depending on the category and domicile/ quota of the applicant.
