Students can select their MBA specialisation both at the time of registration and counselling. Counsellling round asks students about their preferences and let them know about the course in detail. Specialisation allotment depends on the availability of seats and also the number of applicants applying.

MBA students are taught subjects such as Marketing Management I, Managerial Economics, Business Communication,  and several other subjects. The MBA students are encouraged to choose from the available eight courses from eight elective streams, such as Marketing, HRM, Investments, Insurance, Finance, Banking, Accounting, and IT & Systems. It is not very hard to pursue MBA at ICFAI University Shillong as the university faculty are too good and experienced.

Basically, MBA papers are divided into Discipline-Specific Core (DSC) and Discipline-Specific Elective (DSE) subjects. DSC subjects focus on foundational papers of MBA. Whereas, DSE subjects focus on additional papers that students choose themselves. While DSC subjects helps us to build strong command over the subject we are specialising into. DSE subjects gives a option to study value addition papers.
