With a NEET 2024 score of 629 marks and rank 49,400, your son stands a good opportunity to get MBBS admission, but it is highly dependent on the category and the colleges he applies to. For general category students, this score may be competitive in private medical colleges and a few state-run colleges. But getting a seat in a government medical college may be difficult as the cutoff mark is higher. It is suggested to go for counseling and to apply to different colleges so the chances of admission are higher.

Government MBBS seats are the best option for financially strapped ST aspirants because they provide heavily subsidized (almost "free") education. The majority of state-run medical schools only admit ST students, who normally need to have a NEET score of 400 or higher. For instance reputable schools with reserved quotas in Andhra Pradesh include Government Medical College Vijayawada; Government Medical College, Visakhapatnam; and Government Medical College Kurnool. Although there is fierce rivalry, central universities like AIIMS and JIPMER also offer reserved places. Furthermore, a number of governmental and non-profit scholarship pro

The NEET 2023 cutoff score for BCM (Backward Class Muslim) applicants at Tamil Nadu government medical colleges was 504 which translates to an All India Rank (AIR) of 80,758 according to the most recent data available.
Although precise numbers for 2024 admissions have not yet been released, patterns point to a potential rise in cutoff scores as a result of increased competition. To increase their chances of getting a spot BCM applicants hoping to enroll in Tamil Nadu's government medical schools should aim for a NEET score higher than 510.

Candidates must score between 161 and 127 out of 720 in 2024, or the 40th percentile to be eligible for NEET under the OBC category.
However entrance to MBBS programs is not guaranteed by qualifying. Cutoffs for admission are much higher and change every year depending on the amount of applicants exam difficulty and seat availability. To gain admission to government medical schools in recent years OBC applicants usually had to receive scores in the range of 530 to 560.

It is extremely impossible to get a government MBBS seat in India with 136 NEET scores within the OBC category. This is the reason:
Minimum Qualifying Scores: The OBC candidates' NEET cutoff often falls between 120 and 140 (it varies every year). Even though you might be eligible a government seat usually demands a much higher score (usually 500+).
State Quota and All India Quota (AIQ): While state quotas vary but typically demand 400+ points, AIQ seats typically close at 600+ marks.
Other Options: You can look at paramedical courses, BDS, BHMS, BAMS or private MBBS institutes.
Retry NEET: To improve your score the following year think abo
