Considering your NEET 2024 rank expected to be around 13,000 means your getting a government MBBS seat will depend largely on the state to which you belong and the category under which application is made.

Top-notch colleges will probably be out of reach through All India Quota (AIQ); for example, to get into AIIMS or JIPMER, it would be quite difficult with the rank in AIQ.

However, there will be good chances for admission in well-reputed government colleges from states like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, or Karnataka, as cut-off ranks for general category students for some government MBBS colleges typically extend to around 12,000-1

Your prospects for getting an MBBS seat in government colleges in West Bengal under the state quota would not be very bright with a score of 505 in the general (unreserved) category for NEET 2024. The cutoff scores for most of the government medical colleges in West Bengal were more than 505 in previous years. For instance:

Government Colleges: Medical College Kolkata, Nilratan Sircar Medical College,  RG Kar Medical College generally had their cut-offs around 590-600 for state quota general category seats.

With a NEET score of 431 under the open category, admission to MBBS colleges through government quotas may be challenging but not impossible, depending on your state of domicile and the cutoff trends for 2024. Cutoffs for government medical colleges under the 85% state quota and 15% All India Quota (AIQ) vary across states and categories. Generally:

State Quota Cutoffs: States like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Rajasthan have slightly lower cutoffs for state quota seats compared to others like Delhi and Maharashtra. A score of 431 may be sufficient for private medical colleges under government quotas or seats in less competitive states.

Scoring 292 in NEET 2024, securing a government or semi-government MBBS seat will be challenging, as the cutoff marks for top colleges are usually high. Some semi-government colleges might have low cutoff marks, which can get moderate scorers in. For instance, colleges like *Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education, Chennai, * and *PSG Institute of Medical Science, Coimbatore, * admit students with scores ranging from 250–500. This is purely at the discretion of the college based on the category and availability of particular seats.

You can also look at private medical colleges, where the cutoff might be softer compared to govern
