Physiology and Biochemistry are the best fields to opt for. There are also open positions across different domains to opt for as suggested below:

To get into PSG Medical College for an MD program, candidates must hold an MBBS degree from a recognised university and have a valid score in the NEET PG exam. There is no specific mention of a minimum percentage requirement in class 12th for MD admission. However, for MBBS admission, candidates are required to have at least 60% marks in Biology or Botany & Zoology in class 12th. For MD admission, the eligibility criteria include an MBBS degree and a valid NEET PG score.Therefore, while a 70% in class 12th is a good achievement, the key factors for MD admission to PSG Medical College are the MBBS degree and the NEET PG score.

There are a total of 141 seats for the JIPMER MD course. The seats are further bifurcated among the different MD specialisations. The highest seat count is for MD in General Medicine, which is 20. Furthermore, it must be noted that the seat details mentioned here are taken from unofficial sources. Hence, is indicative.

The period of training for MD course is three completed years including the examinations period at JIPMER Puducherry. However, for the students with a two-year PG Diploma in the same subject, the period of training shall be two years. Moreover, the institute's training procedure is designed involves learning experience for candidates around the needs of the community.

JIPMER Puducherry has not released the 2024 placements report. However, as per its NIRF report 2024, the median package offered to the three-year PG course candidates stood at INR 24 LPA in 2023. According to student reviews, JIPMER Puducherry has been given a score of 4.1 on placements.

Both the institutes are popular in Puducherry. The candidates seeking admission can compare the two colleges based on ranking, fee, and placement package. In the NIRF 2024 rankings, JIPMER is ranked #5 in the medical category and MGMCRI is ranked #47. For admission to MD at JIPMER, candidate should have a valid MBBS degree recognised by the Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India with at least 55% aggregate for General and OBC category candidates and at least 50% aggregate for case SC/ST category candidates. Candidate must hold the degree and mark sheets as well during the form filling and admission confirmation.

During the three years of the course, 10 months are of peripheral posting and remaining 26 months include ward duties.
