MDS at MAIDS, MAMC is a three-year programme. The maximum duration to complete the programme is five years. The course curriclulm is evenly spread over six semesters and it varies across the available MDS specialisations. It is designed to provide theoretical and practical knowledge to students in their preferred specialisations, through lectures, journal clubs, seminars, symposiums and regular postings in hospitals and clinics. The assessment includes theory, practical and clinical examinations, in addition to the viva-voce and pedagogy.

During the last round of Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences MDS counselling, the closing ranks for MDS in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedies, MDS in Prosthodontics, Crown and bridge and MDS in Oral Medicine and Radiology were 1, 2, and 9, respectively, for the students belonging to the General (All-India) category.
Getting a seat for MDS in Public Health Dentistry was the least competitive as the cut-off rank for the specialisation during the last round was 358. For the OBC (All-India) category, the most competitive MDS specialisation was MDS in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedies.

Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences accepts NEET MDS entrance exam scores for admission to the MDS courses. As per the Round 1 of the MAIDS cutoff 2024, the closing rank for MDS in Prosthodontics was 2 for the General AI category students. MDS in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedies turned out to be the most competitive specialisation with a closing rank of 1.
