Hi Sneha,
It is very tough to choose between interest and scope. EXTC is having better placements and better scope as compared to mechanical engineering but if you are inclined towards mechanical engineering, go fo it only because if you have interest in something you can achieve great things in that field.

Eligibility Criteria
The academic qualifications as prescribed in the information bulletin and application form of CBSE JEE are applicable for the counseling. These are reproduced below :
The minimum academic qualification for admission through CBSE JEE is that the candidate must have passed in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII), or its equivalent with aggregate score of minimum 60% in PCM + English.
Candidate must have appeared in CBSE JEE .Selection will be based on CBSE JEE score.

Hard to comment if it's easy or not as the universities mentioned are very competitive. If you have excellent grades and an impressive profile there is no reason why the universities won't accept you. Submitting applications on time is very important. Check academic requirements carefully. Communicate with them, exchange emails. Check with your professors for your recommendation letters and write a strong motivational personal statement. Admissions to 2nd year of engineering colleges via lateral entry route is controlled by state government and is almost restricted to students of that state. You have not mentioned as to which state you belong to.
