Mechanical engineering is an evergreen branch from last 5 decades. Currently because of crash in international crude price petrochemical industries are impacted. However I am of the opinion that it's a temporary phase and will be over soon. You may chose any based on your interests.

At present, any engineering programme offered through distance learning mode is not approved by AICTE, the statutory regulator for technical courses. The process is under consideration and soon AICTE will recognise distance learning courses in engineering. For latest information you can search AICTE website. You are also advised to search the website of "The Institution Of Engineers" which is a well known organisation in the field of distance learning programmes for engineering. Good luck.
