Mechatronics engineering is a multidisciplinary field of engineering that includes a combination of mechanical engineering, electronics, computer engineering, telecommunications engineering, systems engineering and control engineering. In recent past it has become synonymous with robotic engineering. Currently, there are good career opportunities for mechatronics engineer in the field of production and R&D.

Mechatronics is a combination of mechanical and electronics used in the field of robotics. It is a different specialization and normally students opt for this course when pursuing M.Tech. Some colleges are offering this as a separate branch also in B.Tech but there are very few in no. You have to check for it. Switching of the mechatronics from separate branch depends on eligibility criteria in M.Tech. Normally, one has to give GATE exam in mechanical to choose this branch.
