The pay package depends upon the qualification, location and experience of the candidate. In India, the starting salary of a pharmacy post graduates ranges from range from Rs. 25000/- to Rs. 30,000 a month. The average salary for a Pharmacist is Rs 2.5-3 lakh/year. Those, owning their own medicine shop will be able to make more.

Initially, Siddha was the integral part of Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Siddha (CCRAS), but now the government has created a new research council for siddha I.e. Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRA). After successful completion of Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS), one can pursue higher studies in MD or PhD. There are many Siddha government medical colleges across Tamil Nadu where one can get teaching jobs after completing one's higher studies.
