Candidates must have finished their 10+2 coursework with Physics and Mathematics as required subjects and Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, and Electronics as an elective in order to be admitted to Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE) for B.E./B.Tech.  The qualifying exam must have a minimum total score of 45% (or 40% for protected categories).  The results of entrance exams determine admission:

Placement at Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE) is consistently high.  The academic year 2023–2024 saw the placement of 425 out of 467 undergraduate students and 151 out of 174 postgraduate students.  Undergraduate students made an average of INR 4.6 LPA, while postgraduate students made an average of INR 5.25 LPA.  The maximum compensation package that was provided was INR 50 LPA.
