MTET

Meghalaya TET (MTET) result 2023 was announced by the Directorate of Educational Research & Training (DERT) on January 31, 2024. Candidates who appear for the Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET) 2023 exam can check the result by visiting the official website. The MTET results are announced separately for Lower Primary (LP) and Upper Primary (UP) papers. 

The Meghalaya TET qualified candidates need to submit the self-attested documents for verification after the declaration of results. All candidates who clear the MTET exam are required to submit self-attested copies of the documents at the respective exam centres for verification. It is only after the verification that the MTET certificates are issued.

The MTET (Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test) exam is conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of teachers in primary and upper primary schools in the state of Meghalaya. However, it is important to note that qualifying the MTET exam does not guarantee a job as a teacher. The selection process for the MTET exam involves the following steps:

1. Qualifying the MTET exam: Candidates must score the minimum qualifying marks in the MTET exam to be considered eligible for the post of teacher.
2. Applying for teaching vacancies: Once a candidate has qualified the MTET exam, they can apply for teaching vacancies in government and private schools in Meghalaya. Candidates can apply for vacancies based on their qualifications, experience, and other eligibility criteria specified by the school authorities.
3. Selection process by the school authorities: The selection process for teaching vacancies may vary from school to school. Generally, the school authorities conduct a written test, followed by an interview to shortlist candidates for the post of teacher.
4. Document verification and joining formalities: Once a candidate has been selected for the post of teacher, they are required to complete the document verification process and complete the joining formalities.

MTET (Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test) exam consists of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Each paper has 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with four options and a single correct answer. The total marks for both papers are 150, with each question carrying one mark. The distribution of questions and marks in each paper is as follows :-

• Paper 1: The 150 MCQs are divided into five sections, with 30 questions in each section. The sections are Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1, Language 2, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. 
• Paper 2: The 150 MCQs are divided into five sections, with 30 questions in each section. The sections are Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1, Language 2, Mathematics and Science, and Social Studies/Social Science.

It is important to note that each question carries equal weightage, and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. Candidates must score a minimum of 60% marks to qualify the MTET exam.

Candidates planning to teach Classes 1 to 5 need to qualify MTET Paper 1. Candidates planning to teach Classes 6 to 8 need to qualify for MTET Paper 2. Candidates planning to teach Classes 1 to 8 need to qualify both papers. The candidates have to apply for the papers according to their eligibility set by the board. The educational qualification criteria has been given below for the candidates:

• Paper 1 
  • Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education
  • Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd)
• Paper 2
  • Graduation with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education. Graduation with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in one-year BEd

The MTET exam consists of 150 questions worth a total of 150 marks. The duration for the exam is 150 minutes. The exam is conducted online, and it includes multiple-choice questions (MCQs) divided into 5 sections, each containing 30 questions. Notably, there is no negative marking in this exam. 

Candidates applying for the primary teacher role for students in Classes 1 to 5 are required to participate in the MTET Paper 1 Exam. Conversely, individuals interested in teaching students in Classes 6 to 8 must undertake the MTET Paper 2 Exam. Each question in the examination carries a weight of 1 mark, with no negative marking for incorrect responses.

The difficulty level of the MTET exam can vary depending on individual preparation and understanding of the subjects. Generally, the MTET exam is considered moderately challenging. It requires a comprehensive understanding of the syllabus, strong conceptual knowledge, and the ability to solve questions within the given time frame. The exam tests candidates on subjects like Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1 & 2, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, and Social Studies. With proper preparation, including studying the syllabus, practicing previous years' question papers, and taking mock tests, candidates can increase their chances of performing well in the MTET exam.
