No, according to the SKDU NEST official website, the shortlisting of candidates to receive the scholarship for all courses, such as BA, will be done based on the entrance exam. Candidates need to appear for the SKDU NEST test so that they can apply for the scholarship, as application is compulsory for it. Scholarships, merit-based admission, and the facility to study at a renowned UGC-approved university in Rajasthan are offered by the university.

Hello Tapaswee Behera, I am afraid to tell you that on two counts you appear to be ineligible to appear for this examination. Firstly only those students who have appeared or appearing in 12th examination of 23 24 for 25 are eligible to appear for this examination. Secondly a student must obtained 60% marks in 12th which is relaxable by 5% in the case of SC ST and divyangjan candidates. You have stated that you have obtained about 53% marks and hence on this count also you appear to be ineligible.

Best wishes to you.

Since you have aggregate percentage in 12 th class as 53.8% while your pcm subjects score is 66% . According to NEST 2024, a candidate from SC category must have got 55% marks in aggregate in his 12 the class so you are not eligible for the NEST exam. You can try improvement exam for your class 12th and then again reappear for 12 the class examination.

While the NEST exam is mostly for integrated MSc courses of institutions like NISER and UM-DAE CEBS, it will not be the best option for those who would like to have a Ph.D. programme pursuing theoretical quantum physics.

Alternatively, appear for tests like the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) or the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), which are more appropriate for Ph.D. admissions in physics. The tests are a measure of candidates' readiness for advanced-level research and are accepted by a large majority of universities awarding Ph.D. degrees in physics, such as theoretical quantum physics.
