
NEST 2025 Application Process was extended till May 13, 2025, for candidates who wish to appear for the NEST 2025 Exam, which is now closed. Candidates were required to visit the official website to make changes to their submitted application form between May 14, 2025, and May 16, 2025. The NEST Exam Date for the academic year 2025, scheduled for June 22, 2025.
NEST 2025 is a National Level exam which is conducted once a year, across India. This exam is conducted for those candidates who wish to get admission to UM-DAE CEBS and NISER to pursue different programmes like the Integrated 5-year MSc Programme, MSc Programme in Medical & Radiological Physics, Integrated MSc+PhD Programme, and PhD Programme. The NEST 2025 Admit Card is going to be released on June 2, 2025.
Those who wish to pursue the NEST CEBS 2025 Counselling Process for the first round will start in the first week of August 2025, tentatively. The selected candidates need to report to their allotted campus on time to secure their seats, or else their seats will be forfeited. The chances of releasing the counselling schedule for both NEST CEBS and NEST NISER are likely to be released in the third week of July 2025, tentatively. Knowing about the upcoming NEST 2025 dates, students can make their preparation strategy to qualify for the NEST Exam. For the Integrated MSc programme 2024–29, the total number of seats at NISER and UMDAE CEBS is 200 and 57, respectively.

The candidates admitted to the programme are eligible to receive an annual scholarship of INR 60,000 through the DISHA program of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. In addition, the scholarship recipients receive a grant of INR 20,000 per annum for summer internships. Candidates selected by DST for the INSPIRE-SHE program are endorsed for the INSPIRE scholarship by NISER and UM-DAE CEBS. Alumni of the programme are presently pursuing PhD at reputed universities and institutes in India & abroad.
The National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) is a compulsory computer-based test for admission to the five-year Integrated MSc programme in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM–DAE CEBS), Mumbai.
SMAS is used frequently in preparing the result of NEST exam.
The full-form of SMAS is the Section-wise Minimum Admissible Score. It is the cut off marks which applicants need to secure for each section of NEST paper.
Since there are different category candidates who appear in the exam hence they have seperate SMAS.
NEST 2024 result was released on July 12, 2024. The exam was conducted for the candidates who wish to get enrol in the integrated MSc degree programme offered by NISER and UM-DAE CEBS institutions.

If two applicants will score the same percentile marks in the NEST 2024 exam then autority will consider marks of class 12th exam for tie breaking. In case of tie between the marks of class 12th exam then candidate who will be younger given preference over other who will be older.
Though in most other exams, the older candidates get preference but in case of NEST exam, it is different.

NEST 2025 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who wish to take the NEST Exam must go through the NEST Eligibility criteria before filling out the application form. Students must also fulfil the eligibility criteria mentioned below:

The candidates who have cleared the class 12 examination or equivalent in 2023, 2024 or those who will be appearing for the 12th Standard examination or equivalent in 2025, irrespective of category and age, will be eligible for admission to the Integrated M.Sc. programme of NISER/CEBS in 2025.

Applicants must secure at least 60 per cent marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in the Class 12 examination from any recognised Board in India. For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and Divyangjan candidates, the minimum requirement is 55 per cent.
Note: If any applicants fail to qualify for the eligibility criteria mentioned above then their candidature may be rejected at any stage of the admission process.

The NEST 2025 application form will be released in an online mode on the official website. Students need to register themselves by providing their personal and educational details.
