Environment is good. Seniors are always friendly. No ragging. Ragging is prohibited strictly. Punjabi food is nice. So, obviously mess food is average. Various events. There are various clubs like LADS, MADS etc. For co-curricular activities. You will get exposure to brilliant minds (I am talking about seniors and not faculty).
Placements for all branches are good. If you are in top 10% of your branch, than there are more opportunities. Training and placement cell works in a better way. Hello Abhijeet, Cutoffs in IIT or NIT are indeed dynamic. It all depends on the toughness if the question paper set for JEE Mains / JEE Advanced. It also depends on the perception of students about a particular branch. In some years mechanical branch is at top while in some other, electrical branch is at top. I will say that you should aim for scoring 70 percentile and above if you want to get confirmed admission in mechanical branch. Best wishes.

Hello Rakshith,
It is very nice to know your aim and desire to get into computer engineering of any of the NIT's. As per the reports in the year 2018, the minimum marks required for a student to be eligible for registering for admission from SC category was 50. Mind you this was the minimum marks which will make you eligible for registration not that it will get you any seat. Normally twice the number of students as compared with available seeds are selected are allowed to appear in counselling.
