For admissions to NITs/ IIITs/ GFTIs, candidates should have secured at least 75% marks in class 12th exam or be in the top 20 percentile in the class 12th exam conducted by the respective board. For SC/ ST candidates, the eligibility criteria is 65% marks in class XII. The cutoff percentage of top 20 percentile for respective boards are given at

It totally depends on your interest.
Scope: Both the branches have vast scope. Period. Research:Studying a branch is easy but to master it is difficult. And reading about Researches is one way. There are Researches going in both the subjects. It largely depends on you which topics you like. You inclination towards the research topics will determine your interest and thus your choice of branch.

Your son can choose any NIT for B.Tech CSE, but it all depends what your son scored in JEE Mains and what your son's rank is.

Congratulations, you have scored quite good marks and you will surely get a seat in one of the NITs. And, NITs have state quota for the students of respective states. So, if you belong to any one of the states, where NITs are situated, then your chances of getting a seat in NIT will be easy.

You should compare your rank with last year's SC cutoff's ranks of NITs at
https://josaa.nic.in/josaaorcrarchieve/Result/OpeningClosingRankArchieveN.aspx?Year=2017
There you would get an idea of your selection. Check for your Homestate NIT first. By the way counselling has been started and first round has been announced today. You can also check the cutoff ranks of this year's first round of councelling on josaa. Nic. In
