The average salary packages of NIT-Trichy for an engineering graduate ranges from 6-8 Lacs.
In Tamil Nadu, there are basically 2 NITs namely Trichy and Puducherry.
Since puducherry comes under union territory, I have said about NIT Trichy.

To get admission into undergraduate engineering programs at NITs you need to have a minimum of 75% in board exams (general category), 65% (reserved categories like SC, ST, etc.) or be in the top 20 percentile that is the top 20% students from your board.
You also need to clear JEE main examination with a valid score to get a seat at any of the NITs on India.

The only difference is level of practise and dedication. IITians are the top in this aspect which can be easily noticed about their craze. So comes the NITians and general colleges.
It doesn't matter much because it is how you make use of the knowledge that matters in the latter half of your life. So, whatever college you are in work hard and enjoy life.
