The minimum eligibility marks to get admission in NIT is to have at least 75% in board exams (for general category) or 65% (for SC, ST and PwD candidates). Even if you don't meet the above criteria, you should be in the top 20 percentile that is you should be among the top 20% students from your board.
So, only if you satisfy the above criteria, you are eligible.
Above all, you need to get a good score in JEE Mains to get admission in NIT.
Hope this helps you.

You are not eligible to get admission into NITs as it is for only those who have clear 10+2.
The admission is based on JEE main scores, which is for students who completed 10+2 pattern only.
So you are not eligible to apply for it with diploma.

Yes, you can take admission into NITs and IITs after doing graduation but not for undergraduate courses. You can enroll for any post graduate courses after clearing the respective exams.

If you are determined to get into any good college then definitely take a gap and prepare well for next year, though there is some problems for 2 years droppers at the time of placements but it will be covered up if you are from any top colleges.
All the best.

As again this year your marks are not upto the level so you can't get admission in NITs. I would suggest that you should take any college as admission is still going on in colleges. So, take admission as dropping a year again may cause problems.
But if you still want to take a chance, for class 12th you can again give the exam through NIOS board so that your class 12th board marks may improve.
All the best.

The closing ranks vary for each course even under the home state ranks.
So, if you mention the name of the course then I may tell you the exact closing ranks.
