140 is a below par score, I would suggest you can try once more or wait for result of other entrance exams. You might get better colleges based on the results of other exams.

The cut off should be around 195 to 200 for NMAT and for IBSAT there is no cut off

Yes, you can. But, I would suggest you to retake the exam and try to score more than 200. You need at least 205 for Bangalore, Hyderabad and 210 for Mumbai.

The format of NMAT is more or less similar to GMAT as same agency handle both the tests. There are 32 questions related to language and the primary objective is to judge your communication skills. You should use free site such as vocabulary.com or visual thesaurus.com.
